Blog Post 9 and 10

I had no idea what I was signing up for when I accepted to try the creativity cluster, I understood that I would be taking an English and Philosophy class, those title courses where self explanatory. However I read that along with those classes I would be taking an Art and Society, I was right in assuming that the course would involve art but I still was entirely sure what I would be learning. I was happy to learn that my art teacher was rad and seems like a youthful individual, I was also extremely happy to learn that we would be going on museum trips. This course has reawaken my passion for art, throughout elementary and junior high school I was actually an art major, was extremely into art and eventually ended up doing the summer semester at Pratt Institute. Somewhere along the way I lost the spark but this course has done a lot for me. From the beginning, helping me to re-identify the art in my everyday life to ending up helping me sketch and make random doodles again. Going through my blog post, I see that I have learned to identify and speak about art, that I am able to experience art without going to a museum, and that I can simply make art, with words or random doodles.

A great part about this course was the blog, I immediately loved the idea, because it was something I’ve never tried but also always wanted to experience. Especially the idea of posting about art, the idea was extremely interactive and modern. This was also a great idea, knowing that we as young adults live on the web and with technology, to get us more involved with the work and participating, utilizing technology was a great idea. On top of that the museum visits were great, these visits were great because you not only got to see these pieces of art in class but also eventually ended up seeing these art works up close and personal. The assignments attached to the museum visits were great as well, they were fun and allowed us to interact and get to know certain pieces of artwork even better, rather than mindlessly roaming the museum. I learned a lot with this course, not just about art but as a writer as well because we blogged quite a bit. We touched on important topics and would highly recommend this unique class and teaching structure.
