 Although I wasn't able to make it on the trip one exhibit that stood out to me was sterling ruby. The reason I like this exhibit is because it looks super creative. One of my favorite pieces is ACTS/SOME RISE SOME REST. The reason I like this one is because of the way both blocks contrast each other and have different forms, such as organic and sharp shapes. The uses of warm colors help create a feeling that it is hot and the warm colors complement the organic shape of the sunrise. If you look at the sculpture the way the blocks are set up to me shows the transition from daylight to evening. Another sculpture that stood out to me was Hanging Fingers. The reason I find this sculpture interesting is because of the size and the message it portrays to me. In my eyes the sculpture shows that we U.S citizens are forced to do what society wants us to do. I say this because you can see that the sculpture is shaped like a person and its holding on to the rod that is above it and it is covered with American flags all around them. This sculpture can relate to a lot of people because some people come from different countries and bring their American dreams with them and as times get hard they hold on to them until they can accomplish them. But most of the time they lose themselves and just give up. In my eyes this sculpture is the most moving because it helps create an aesthetic emotion and can draw a picture that a lot of people can relate to or understand. Even though I wasn't able to show up I’m grateful that I still got to see the different galleries and experience such beautiful different types of sculptures and installations.

Based on the reading I feel that the more money you got the more you don’t really connect to a art piece. I say this because I believe that rich people only by pieces of art only because they feel is modern and unique. But in my eyes I believe that you should buy an art piece because you can connect to it and it created an aesthetic emotion. In my opinion the value of an art work should be determined by how rare it is. I also believe that the value should be determined by the how big the piece of art is and how it’s created, such as technique, the use of different colors, and the type of art it is. The piece of art I chose is really interesting to me because it looks like different people intertwined together and the use of warm and cool colors make it hard for you not to look at it. How much I would pay for it? It all depends on how economically stabled I am. If I am economically stabled I would pay at most $1,500 because it really catches my eye and I feel connected to it. But if I don’t have a lot of money I would pay $300-$600. I feel that anybody can relate to any piece of art and if you do that should be what determines how much you should pay for it. Everybody will experience a different emotion to a piece of art and some may experience the same one that’s why some works of art are auctioned and sold for a lot of money.

THE TORCH OF EQUALITY

An issue that I see in this world is that there isn't equality. There isn't equality in race, politics, and especially in sexual orientation. That’s why my cause is equal rights and to stop stereotypes. As my monument I want it to be a torch made out of black and white arms and instead of flames I want it to be a flamboyant rainbow of different arms as you see in the image. The message that I am trying to portray is that we all come from the same roots it’s just that people adapted better to different things and no matter what we like we should be free to express our thoughts. This is why I replaced the flames with a rainbow because a flame burns freely and beautifully and I believe that our minds as human beings should burn like the flame and not be contained by society. I would like my monument to be huge so that people can admire it and stand under it, so they can feel a connection to it. The torch itself I would like it to be made out of metal but the rainbow arms which represent the flame I would like them to be made of  different colors of glass and a special fabric that would make the flames look like they are lit up when the wind blows. I would also like to put a light beam so that in the night time it looks like a rainbow in the sky. I want my monument to be for all those teens that committed suicide just because they felt neglected by society, I want it to be for the people that embrace who they are, and most importantly I want it to be for the ignorant people that just don’t understand the struggles that certain human beings have to face just to try to fit in. I would like to open people’s eyes with a beautiful monument that illustrates the beautiful colors that we all have, but in order to see it we need to get out of this fog we call society and look for the light we call acceptance and equality.

If I started my own museum I feel that it would be about different landscapes around the world that shows how people see things differently even though we live on the same planet. I would name this museum “The Museum of Natural Living”. I would locate this museum in Queens, NY because Queens is one of the most cultural diverse places. I would like to put photos of people from all parts of the world. I would also like to put different foods and traditions that countries have. I would also like to put cameras in different parts of the world and display them to the audience so that they can have the feel of how it is in that part of the world. The reason why I would like to put different photos of people around the world is because there are so many unique and interesting people in this world and society only focus on the beauty that is on the outside but not on the inside. Another reason why I would like to have photos of people in my museum is because who better to complement their surroundings then the native people. For example if you go to the Dominican Republic and take a beautiful picture in the forest it would look more interesting if you have a actual native than a model because it helps create questions in your head like “what does that person do for a living?” or “why are they there at that moment?” when you have model all you really focus on is there beauty or what they have on, you rarely noticed there surrounding, and I’m saying this because I am one of those people . The reason why I would put different photos of traditions and food is because it’s always good seeing something fresh that you have never seen before and it’s a fun experience when you do it with someone else. Finally my favorite Idea, I would love to install camera in different parts of the world and project the film on to a whole wall as if you are able to go through the screen and be at that specific place. The reason why I believe that my museum can be successful is because living in New York City is like standing under a rainbow of different cultures and instead of closing our eyes we should open them and notice all the beautiful colors there are and the history behind each one.

Hmmm is graffiti art? Is the sky blue, of course its art! The way the colors complement each other or contrast each other are elements use to define a work of art. Although it isn't your traditional oil on canvas painting it still shows a form of expression. Graffiti in my eyes help create an aesthetic emotion I say this because everybody would have a different opinion on graffiti for example some people may like it some may detest it. If you really look at a work of graffiti the majority of them has smooth organic shapes and bold statement. Do I think that graffiti should be included in museums? I personally feel that although it is really interesting it shouldn't be included in museums because I feel that museums are places people want to go to see art that they can’t see somewhere else. For example you can go to any part of a New York and see graffiti but you can’t go to any part of New York a suspect to see a work done by Picasso. The only way I believe graffiti can be in a museum is if it has its own museum. Also I believe that museums mostly hold antique and vintage painting for different centuries.

WEEMS

My impression for this exhibition was that I felt like it was over whelming. All the different locations she used for her photos and the meaning behind each photo is just amazing. For example she had a whole room of photos she took in Africa and the history of the location. One piece that really interested me is this one. The reason it interested me so much was because it showed a women in a area that looks like its going through extreme poverty and she honestly looks like she belongs there. In this exhibition like I said before she has a room of photographs of places in Africa and in society people usually think that Africa is poor, not interesting, and boring, but Weem's was able to find the beauty of places that you couldn't see with the naked eye. I believe that Weem's uses photography as main medium because with photography it seems more relateable and realistic than with painting and sculpture. For example if take a photo of a chair who know that that chair is somewhere in the world but if you paint a chair that chair can come from your imagination. I also think that Weem's uses photography to make a statement and help the audience create an aesthetic emotion. Weem's uses historical photographs by using head and profile shots of slaves and writing what their profession was for example there was a woman that was labeled “kitchen” which can make you assume that she worked at the kitchen. This experience compared to the met was better to me because I felt like this museum was more futuristic and was a form of art its self. Like the way it was built in a circular form and when you go inside its spiral to get to the top floor. What really caught my eye was that as you travel up the spiral you’re not just looking at plain walls you are looking at different and beautiful works of art. I remember I watched this movie called “When in Rome” and it took place at this museum and as I explored I noticed a painting that was in the movie I was just astonished that I saw something that was in a movie. Don’t get me wrong the met was beautiful but everybody has different opinions and mine is that the Guggenheim museum was more interesting to visit and experience.

       In my own perspective you can see art all around you. The first image I found believe it or not was in the computer room at LaGuardia community college. It is located in the E building, room E141. In this image you’ll see a bunch of cables all tangled together and the center, but getting loose as you look away from the center .The shapes in this image are organic and abstract because there aren't any sharp angles it just flows together. I chose to present this image in black in white because it makes the cables look bolder and creates a contrast with the background and the foreground. This work of art was accidental because nobody placed the cables in that specific form.

     The second image is my favorite one because it doesn't look like what it actually is. I also present this image in black and white because it also helps create contrast throughout the image. This is a photograph of leather coach in my local barbershop which is located on 169st Hillside Ave, Jamaica, New York this work of art was accidental because the coach wasn't bought like that it was created by people sitting on it. I would compare this image to a river that is why I named it Main Stream because there are different areas where it breaks out but it’s still connected to the “main stream”.

          The two works of art I chose are paintings and they both are oil on wood. The similarity of the two is that they both are landscapes and incorporate animals. The first painting is called Roelandt Savery painted by Flemish, Kortrijk. This painting was painted on 1616. The second painting is called Kerstiaen de Keuninck also by Flemish, Kortrijk this painting was painted on 1600. The similarities between both paintings are that they are both painted by the same painter. Another similarity is the color plait for example the way the painter mostly uses vivid colors to set the mood of relaxation. Both painting also have the same concept they are both about nature and the beauty nature has to share with us. Both paintings also have a light source which helps create shadows. The both focal points of the paintings are located on the corners. I believe that the painter wants the viewer’s eyes to travel throughout both painting in a smooth way.

        Although both paintings have similar qualities they also have differences. In painting 1) the painter involves animals and also makes the sky look dark as if it’s going to rain but it also has certain areas that the light is able to show such as in the background. The use of animals make the painting feel more relatable towards nature because when you usually think of nature you think of wild free animals and a sense of freshness. The way the painter made the animal’s together and not really apart shows unity and one with nature. In painting 2) there isn't any animals it’s just a landscape with a waterfall. The color plait in painting 2) is more vivid than painting 1). The sky in painting 2) is brighter which sets the mood of happiness and positivity. The focal point in paint 2) is mostly cool colors because of the water of the waterfall, and the focal point in painting 1) is mostly warm colors because of the colors of most of the animals. To me painting one is more beautiful because it looks more harmonious and peaceful it looks like a utopia. Although both paints are beautiful not everyone is going to develop the same aesthetic emotion toward them so that’s why that I believe that art is based on ones opinion.

The photo I picked is a artist named Romeo Santos. In Latin America he is considered the prince charming and heart melting to all women. I fell that he is idealized because there are a lot of people that wish they can be him, also if you think about it the music industry use handsome people so that society can be hooked to them. Society is mainly drawn to good looking people that is one reason why I believe that Romeo Santos is a perfect candidate for the style of idealize. If you look at Romeo Santos you see that he isn't guy he is attractive and his voice and the way he sings and writes his songs are mostly about love and betrayal which are to things that humans go through in life especially women so they listen to his music and compare their life to the lyrics of the song. Some girls also compare they boyfriend or husband to Romeo Santos because they feel that he’s highly romantic and what woman wouldn't want that. I don’t think that burgers ideas apply to this photograph because he isn't nude and the object of this photo isn't a woman it’s a man.

   Terrazas de Madrid by Javier Montesol is 2D painting .He uses a brush technique and doesn't show the face of the people in the painting. The painting in my eyes is equally balanced with hot and cool colors. For example the blouse on the women in the bottom right corner is a bright orange and the chairs ,tables and the details on the building are a bright yellow. What i see in this paint is a everyday life in Madrid,Spain. for example the people walking down the street, the people chatting at the cafe. Over all it looks like a gloomy day because of the the shade of blue Montesol decided to use. I believe that this painting is a objective piece of art because you are seeing what the painter wants you to see you cant really create a certain emotion to this painting all you can really see is that its a gloomy day, like you cant really connect to this painting. I also believe this painting is objective because the painter bluer the faces of the people that are in it he probably did that so you cant define a emotion in this painting. 

Where do you see art around you?

      What a interesting question where do i see art? Well honestly i see art all around me buildings, flowers, but where i see it the most is in trees. I say this because if you look at a tree all you really think  is of "branches,leaves,trunk" but have you ever really looked at tree carefully? For example have you seen the way the branches grow the way some of them intertwine with each other. Have you ever noticed that not all trees are the same color that they have different shades of color and different texture .The image i chose was of a tree that i believe that is a piece of art. the color the texture and the way the branches intertwine is just beautiful to me. I feel this tree was meant to create extra-ordinary versions of ordinary objects. I say this because a tree is a ordinary object,its something you see on a regular bases but a lot of people don't just stop and look at a tree and admire the details and the life it has, don't notice the extra ordinary picture of a ordinary object. This is why i believe that you can see art every where you go you just have to have your artistic eye open at all times
