Art

Blog Post # 9/10
Since blog post 1 I learned a lot in this class. Before this class I never knew about positive and negative spaces, or warm and cool colors. Through this class I have learned to value art more and analyze it better. Previously I would look at a piece of art for about 5 seconds and move on. However now I look at a piece of art and I can dissect it better and observe features I was completely oblivious to before. This course has made me realize how art is all around us. It surrounds us in the most unknowingly places such as subway stations, garbage, even on the floor. The garbage in the subway tracks can be represented as art. Garbage can be made into art similar to the people that were made out of tin cans. Even cracks in the sidewalk or gum on the floor can be seen as art! I now see art as something that is naturally all around us whether it is intentional or unintentional. This class not only opened my eyes, but it opened my mind to observe art whether it may seem like art to most or not, because the most outrageous objects can be seen as art,
One thing I would have enjoyed to see in this class is the creation of art through technology. Such as video games and cartoons. Being two of my favorite things I would have truly enjoyed learning about the process of creating these pieces of art and bringing them to life in these animations. Technology revolves around us, and it is only becoming more and more relevant in today’s society. So to go learn about how these animations are made and how they work could’ve been an interesting experience. The most useful activity would have to be the field trips, because learning in class and learning in an environment where the objects we are observing are 3D makes a huge difference. Overall I would not change anything about this course besides learning about art through technology and how it is becoming more relevant in today’s society. I strongly feel that this class successfully mixed fun and education flawlessly.
