Patient Care or Dollar Bills?

What does your physician really see?

       The message behind this monument is to bring awareness to health care fraud. Some patients are victims of insurance fraud and they aren’t even aware of it. Some (not all) doctors will run test on patients which are not medically necessary just so they can go ahead and bill the insurance company and receive more money. Doctors will simplify tell the patients that the test being performed are routine exams but in reality they are not or they will tell the patient that they believe they have “something” but they first need to have the exam before the doctor can rule it out. Some of the times the doctors will just say this to get the patient to do the exam. .The doctor will simply falsify the patients diagnostic to “justify” the exam being performed when they bill the health care insurance. I have been witnessed to this being done, and I noticed that Hispanics were mostly targeted.

My monument is one of where a doctor is examining his patient with his stethoscope, listening to the patient’s heartbeat, but in reality all that the doctor see’s on his examination table is a patient with money. I would place my monument somewhere in New York City and the reason why would be because many people work in the city and many tourist go there as well. I think it would be a perfect place to have a monument because many people would pass by it and look at it everyday. This monument would be for almost everyone, I would want this monument to open peoples eyes to the reality out there. Not all physicians have your best interest at heart, I would want people to be aware and to choose their physicians with care. Not only for themselves but also for their family members. Many times I would see elderly patients coming in by themselves or with an aid to their doctors appointments and because of the conditions they were in they were unable to comprehend what was really going on. The monument would be made out of black ceramic but inside the patients chest would be a clear wall to so show the money inside lit with lights around it(of course the money would be fake). By having the money showing I believe people will be drawn to the monument because of course when people see money on the floor they stop, so that would be by mission with this monument, to make people stop and look!

The Museum of Industrial Technologies and Resources (M.I.T.R)

New York City is the best location for my Museum of Industrial Technologies and resources. The site has to be located near the Brooklyn navy shipyard. Within the area of industrial Brooklyn, MIT makes an outstanding hot spot for all types of people. Attracting business and community progresses the history of society. The MITR's curiosity questions who, what, when, where, how, and why about modern technology and resources. With public programs available, the community is aware where they can learn as well intern (under qualifications) for free.  

 The museum's goal is to display manufactured products from the time industrial revolution began, all the way to our modern times of technology to conceptualize the change in human technology. Manufactured goods such as a car, fridge, stove, sowing machine, camera guns, and computers. All of these goods are vehicle, utilities, tools, weapons, and appliances that advances its own new predecessor. In example from a simple stove to gas stove and to an electric gas stove. All of its parts are different but still functions the same when using it for cooking. One method in Motor vehicle advancements are annually refined by upgrading its efficient computer technology. Citreon was the first motor vehicle to introduce a computer technology with a simple interface that operates the vehicle's manual system. 2014 Mercedes S-Class now has modern computers with innovated technology such as gps navigation, xm radio, video and audio system, Bluetooth, and many more future features. Another exhibit for preview is the Advancements of computer development, the inter web and the reinventions of social media. Friendster, Myspace, Aim, Yahoo messenger, Facebook, Instagram, and many more are connecting archetypes of major to local business. The impact of today's social structure is the improvement of social media as a digital frontier for communications and data transfer in our daily lives. Connecting with people and sharing ideas to open opportunities are flawless solutions by changing the improvement in our lifestyle.

Artist needs materials to illustrate their vision as to inventors need resources for their innovating ideas. From a personal aspect, true and original inventors continue to innovate modern technology for efficiency, quality, convenience, and durability. Sometimes technology looks simple and is complex at the same time, with so many conjunction parts that functions one main purpose. However the fact there are a vast amount of different resources that created a machine or robot for the convenience to society, is the reason why this museum must be built.

At least once a day a traveling New Yorker has an encounter with a homeless person. Whether it is on the train or on the street, however most people never stop and think about how bad they must have it at the moment, or let alone acknowledge them. I feel as if when homeless people ask for some help or try and explain their situation many people just turn a blind eye. Leaving the homeless person to feel like a ghost in a train cart or on the street. I strongly believe homeless people should be recognized more, because they’ve endured more then many people can begin to believe. Whether they were former soldiers for the military, or someone who has succumbed into the grasp of drug addiction, they all have a story to tell. If I were to dedicate a monument to homeless people I would design it to be several hands that are high reaching out for a hand that is on the low. To symbolize that if people took time in their day to help others then the world wouldn’t be such a bad place. That one person can make a difference, but a group of people can make change.

The monument would be made of melted change to symbolize that a little bit of change could help someone in that dilemma out by tenfolds, and also to literally represent change. If I had to choose where this monument would be placed I would pick a wealthy neighborhood in hopes that it would impact those people and maybe inspire them to actually want to make change. I truly believe everyone should be entitled to food and a place to stay no matter what their situation is.

The cause of my choice is the Wildlife Preservation. A fitting monument for this cause is a two-headed animal that are endangered in two different sides of the world, the head of a wolf representing their endangerment in North America and the second head; a tiger, which are highly endangered in Asia. The message this monument shows is that animals, just like humans co-own the planet. They live here. And the reality is, we're living in THEIR planet, not the other way around. And the only way for us to co-exist with such exotic animals is to leave them be. The way I view it, if we can hunt them, then they can hunt us. So the monument shows as if the wolf and tiger are scaring away any intruders of their territories, and the intruders are humans. Both ferociously growling/roaring. The wolf faces forward, his paw dominantly standing on one part of the globe that is beneath them, with endangered species written on it from around the world, not all correctly placed. Meanwhile, the tiger faces towards his left, roaring. It'd be made of bronze or something that could make it last a long time. I feel a statue like this should be placed in a popular place like in NYC, so I suppose Manhattan would be a nice choice for it's placement, mostly for the tourists to see. This monument is for those that support the Wildlife Preservation Organizations and just about anything that goes against the slaughter of wild animals for whatever reason.

(Chose not to color it in, didn't want to ruin this with my horrible coloring, also the drawing was far too big to fit in the lower half. Not entirely good at drawing the rest of the animals written on the globe so I decided to write their names so that it's known that the wolf and tiger are not the only endangered species that are to be concerned about. And also some species are misplaced because I could not draw in the rest of the earth to put them in the places that they are known for becoming endangered.)

          At this particular juncture of my life, the most noteworthy cause for me would have to be Veteran's Rights. But in particular I would have to say I support the full withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, a war that has dragged on for too long and cost too many lives on all sides of the conflict. I would like to create a memorial to the servicemen and women who died overseas but I wanted it to be a little different from previous memorial sculptures. I like the idea of a sculpture made out of bronze of a young person, not necessarily a male or female, but they would be wearing business casual attire and have a small child holding them around their ankle. The sculpture would be located near the Capitol Building in Washington DC, close enough for the congressmen who vote to send our young men and women to war to see the statue on their way to work. The caption on the base of the sculpture would read "FOR ALL THE YOUTH WHO WANTED TO BE SALESMEN, DOCTORS, LAWYERS, MOTHERS AND FATHERS, WE ARE FOREVER IN YOUR DEBT."
People forget that most Soldiers are pretty young and most of them do not have plans to retire from the military. A lot have dreams of attending college or going to work for the city/government in other departments or becoming professionals. I wanted this sculpture to play on the idea that sending young people to war robs them of their opportunity to lead full lives, even if they do come home in one piece many will suffer from the emotional scars of the conflict until they die. I would dedicate it to my 24 year old friend Jose who was killed in Afghanistan because I know he had other plans for his life that did not include the military.

For this assignment i've chosen the abuse against circus Animal mainly the elephants . what would make a good monument ?  the monument i've chosen to design would  be a big build board show casing the abuse the elephants face while "learning" there tricks  for the circus. The message i want to send out to the public is that  while we all sit their in amazement at what this beautiful creatures have been taught. we fail to know  the truth behind the curtains and what i mean by this is every day  animal hunters go and snatch elephants away have from the wild and they have deigned special traps to capture baby elephants as soon as they are born  and any elephants they capture they are brought to what they call a elephant taring camp.The way i want to design the build board would be and all black poster with white lettering that would say welcome to the worlds saddest show on earth and than it would display a picture of an elephant all tied up with marks and bruises all around its body.The materials i would use are want and a brick wall (poster board). The place i would like to display my poster would be right in the heart of the city time square so i would be able to bring attention to an issue so few people even think about.This poster would be dedicated to all the elephants that didn't make it out of the circus.

Museum Essay .. "The Bruised Muse"

The bruised muse would be my gift to the world and redefine the perception of how one goes about creating art. The mission is for the museum to act as a gallery as well as be the place of creativity by having artists come create and immortalize in any way they see fit. Installations, paintings, choreography, drugs, alcohol, fits of rage and the clarity of epiphany all in one focused environment for the benefit of artist and viewer.

 As opposed to having it above ground to be admired and fawned over, I’d put it underground in a space similar to Port Authority or any large subway line. In today’s psyche built of “out of sight out of mind”, to get to the bruised muse you’d have to truly be inspired by the art you create or be inspired by the art someone has created. So, in effect it should only attract the rawest and most passionate members of society. 

The only commonality my audience would have would be that of an extreme, almost palpable passion, be it for art or anything else. Usually passionate people gravitate to one another and latch on, my audience would be those that understand what it is to truly be engrossed by something and allowing it to have the whole of your being. I hope to bring together a group of people that had never had anyone understand them and create a community that embraces their intensity to the extent that it allows them to experience what it feels like to be light hearted. We will be one another’s bruised muses; bruised by the misconceptions of everyone, and the muses to those that do. 

Basquiat as well as the graffiti I see everyday on the walls and pavement interest me, but William Powhida's work has been somewhat of an inspiration in the way he puts his thumbs to the nose of the high and mighty art society, an exhibition of his work as well as having him create on the spot would be accessible at all times if I had the power to bring that to life. The rebellion in his art embodies the spirit that I'd hope to bring with my museum, I imagine it'd emanate across the galleries and inspire others the way it inspires me.

I believe, if anything The Bruised Muse would embody what it is to have a soul that never ceases to flame or even die down it's embers, nor does it temper the chilliness of your spirit if that is the quality it possesses. It embraces all extremes and irrationalities and completely does away with every dull quality of living. The end result, would be relief. I want my museum to save as well as inspire, and to comfort as well as break barriers. In short, the end result is freedom.

If I started my own museum I feel that it would be about different landscapes around the world that shows how people see things differently even though we live on the same planet. I would name this museum “The Museum of Natural Living”. I would locate this museum in Queens, NY because Queens is one of the most cultural diverse places. I would like to put photos of people from all parts of the world. I would also like to put different foods and traditions that countries have. I would also like to put cameras in different parts of the world and display them to the audience so that they can have the feel of how it is in that part of the world. The reason why I would like to put different photos of people around the world is because there are so many unique and interesting people in this world and society only focus on the beauty that is on the outside but not on the inside. Another reason why I would like to have photos of people in my museum is because who better to complement their surroundings then the native people. For example if you go to the Dominican Republic and take a beautiful picture in the forest it would look more interesting if you have a actual native than a model because it helps create questions in your head like “what does that person do for a living?” or “why are they there at that moment?” when you have model all you really focus on is there beauty or what they have on, you rarely noticed there surrounding, and I’m saying this because I am one of those people . The reason why I would put different photos of traditions and food is because it’s always good seeing something fresh that you have never seen before and it’s a fun experience when you do it with someone else. Finally my favorite Idea, I would love to install camera in different parts of the world and project the film on to a whole wall as if you are able to go through the screen and be at that specific place. The reason why I believe that my museum can be successful is because living in New York City is like standing under a rainbow of different cultures and instead of closing our eyes we should open them and notice all the beautiful colors there are and the history behind each one.

 

My Museum Essay

My Museum would be titled "L'Ascensione di Natura Spirituale" (Italian for "The Ascension of Spiritual Nature") and it is located in Venice, Italy my dream vacation. It's mission is to interact with those who don't normally connect themselves with the beauty of this humbling earth on a deeper level and the privileges it gives us. A target audience? Well, anyone who appreciates nature like I do, teens, kids and adults alike.

One of the many privileges are the animals that roam the earth; which paintings and photographs of majestic creatures would definitely be an art found at this museum. Art like this is important to me, so that the viewers see these beautiful "beasts" in a whole new light. I for one, adore the wolf and all its beauty and glory. Looking at this, makes me want to create my own museum to collect art like this whether it'd be from the most well known artist to the unknown.

This, a photograph of a mystic forest, is just as important as the animal art for many reasons. Most people would find something like this, mist covered forest filled with dying trees, creepy, ominous, maybe even Gothic-esque or just unsettling. I, am not most people. This is just gorgeous. I'd kill to be in a place like this. I feel as if more art like this was on display, more and more people would become attracted to such rarity and mystery. A reason I believe people misunderstand a setting like this is because of horror movies, where the killers in white masks chase down their victims to a similar atmosphere as this, which causes many to think of a horror/thriller scenario rather than a mysterious beauty. I want this kind of art, dark, mysterious and gothic-like; to show the people that beauty can also be found in the darkness.

 A snowy mountain. Similar to my previous picture, with being a landscape and all but given a different meaning than the other. Many love and hate the snow. It's cold, it can get us sick or it can entertain us and be perfect for a photograph. Weather art is another type of art that would be seen in my museum. It fascinates me to no end. Not many countries get a chance to have snowfall, some are glad, some are not. However, the goal here, is to put aside love and hate and just appreciate the art the snow can do for us.

One thing I've noticed was the lack of sun in all three of these art pieces. Some may think the sun is what shows nature's true beauty, but I believe it's not the only thing that shows its beauty. Beauty can be found in the dark as it can be found in the light. This all relates to my museum, and its title, to give the spiritual connection to people, to wake up a part of them they've never felt or fully grasped before. Through the art in my museum, I want you to ascend your connection with mother nature on a level that not many experience.

My Museum/Museum Review Essay #3

My Museum would be the most unique museum in the east coast. I would name it “Melting Pot Island Museum". The Museum would be located in the center of Roosevelt Island, Manhattan, New York. Roosevelt Island is a small island in-between Manhattan and Queens. I decided to place the museum there because it is the center of New York City, making it easy for  people from all five boroughs to attend the museum.

The museum would be a large pentagon shape with five large walls. One wall will be facing east towards Queens. Another wall would be facing southeast towards Brooklyn. The next wall would be facing southwest towards Staten Island. The next wall would be facing west towards Manhattan. The last wall would be facing north towards the Bronx. The walls would be covered with neatly spray painted graffiti by artist’s directly originating from the borough the wall faces. The wonderful graffiti art displayed at Melting Pot Island Museum would attract a hefty amount of young audience and modern artist.

The Museum would have an abundance of lights surrounding its borders that would brighten the entire Island. The museum would be nearly impossible to miss. The museum would be clearly visible from the most famous hotels in lower Manhattan and Astoria, Queens, making it a great tourist attraction. The Museum would further attract tourist because it would be clearly visible to planes landing at LaGuardia Airport. Melting Pot Island Museum would also be a tourist attraction because it will intercept the tourist’s route from JFK airport to Manhattan.

          The inside of Melting Pot Island Museum would be made of five exhibitions. Each exhibition would represent each of New York City’s boroughs. The art displayed in these exhibitions would consist of art created by artist from the borough that the exhibition represents. Melting Pot Island Museum’s mission is to provide a gallery where never before heard of artist can display their work. The museum will hold no famous artist’s work. The art would be work from very talented artist who hold no work in other Museum such as The Met, or The Guggenheim. The art would consist of painting and sculptures of ideas that directly represent New York City’s diverse population. The cost of entry for Melting Pot Island Museum would be $8 or your very own creative work of art representing the museum’s concept. Special works of art created by NYC residents will be installed into the exhibition where the artist originates, and eventually will be auctioned off to create room for more art. Sixty percent of the art auction's proceeds will go to the artist.

 Museum Essay

I entitled my museum “ The Freedom of Beliefs Museum”. The museum would be located in Midtown Manhattan close to Rockefeller center. I chose this location to lure people from all over the world considering all the famous attractions in the nearby area. Some famous attractions include Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Saks Fifth Avenue and the shopping area on Fifth Avenue. The museum particularly displays different galleries of powerful beliefs from major religious figures. Along with Atheists, Agnostics, celebrities, famous artists and selective college students. It’ll include photography, videos, paintings, statements and anything that makes them express and helps the visitors understand what they believe in. The museum is welcome to everyone and its mission is to enlighten people on different theories and to inspire them to not be afraid to disclose what they believe in.

One gallery would be exclusively for famous celebrities such as Daniel Radcliffe, Woody Allen and Seth Macfarlane etc. that declared themselves as Atheists. Their statements and quotes would be displayed in their gallery and explanations as to what made them atheists. Together with videos of them being questioned as to why they aren’t affiliated with religion.  A famous painting  “Crucifixion” by Pablo Picasso will also be included but in a separate gallery.  This abstract painting depicts what Picasso’s religious beliefs are. This painting is complex and creates some confusion thus making it difficult to fully understand what he is implying. In the top center of the painting you see a big cross in black and white. It stands out the most considering that the rest of the painting is very colorful.

Guernica is another one of Picasso’s famous paintings that holds strong religious content. This painting will be included in the museum as well. Guernica relates specifically to the Christian religion. The way Picasso illustrated the woman in the bottom right corner of this painting was essential because it depicts a Mary Magdalene figure. In my point of view, Guernica is trying to point people towards a new way of being human in the face of evil.

My Museum

My museum would be called Nostalgia and it would be located on Roosevelt Island in NYC so that people from Queens can meet people from Manhattan and vice versa. It would be the center point of all other boroughs too, and instead of going to the museums in their own borough, they would take the time out to travel and enjoy the island and my museum in it. It’s mission is too recollect the past specifically from the 1950s and up, find old values in it again, and reminisce on the time that you grew up in. My museum will mainly focus on the history of people growing up in America, and will showcase different fashions of a specific era, what was trending back then; toys and games people grew up with, old photographs of different settings, and what it was like in the past to get a sense of how we progressed over time. My audience will mostly target teenagers to young adults to parents, and will question them, “do you remember this?” or to show them that “this is what it was like back then” to get a little taste of that era your parents or someone older grew up in. I want to make a museum where it can be relatable to our generation, so that the people living in New York can have a nostalgic feeling and to remember to not forget the past. One of the three things as an example I would use is a recollection of fashion in the 80s. During that time, the “greasers” of the male genre were popular with the influx of skinny jeans, cigarette smoking, leather jackets, and slicked-back hair. They were the “cool kids” of that era and people today who are into clothes and fashion can get a sense of how fashion evolved from this. Another example I would use is the evolution of movies. I would display most of the greatest and famous films in the past specifically chosen by the ratings and top grossing. Not only that, but how the evolution of popular movie watching changed, from drive in movies to theatres. Connecting to that, I would also display the evolution of gaming, showing popular titles and game companies to accompany the media section. I would show what video games were popular back then and what you played as a kid. Going off from media, I would also include other games such as activities and board games, and also toys that were popular back then. These examples relate to my idea of recollecting the past, reminiscing old times, and learning about what it was like back then to accommodate the nostalgic experience my museum has to offer.

 My museum is a place where you can come and feel safe and welcomed, where people can come experience the art without being afraid of breaking any rules. My mission is similar to a charitable foundation, raising money so that I can give back to the community. My main concern with museums today is that they don’t seem to be that friendly or treat the visitors with open arms. Most museums in NYC charge at least twelve dollars a person, for what? So they can come in and stare at art. There are many differences in the experiences you can have in a museum, you can come in and blankly stare at pieces of work, or you can leave mesmerized. If I’m paying twelve dollars, I want to have the best experience that I possibly can. I’m also not saying that the art is bad, the art at many of the museums are beautiful, there’s just the atmosphere of museums that can totally ruin the experience.

            My museum’s overall mission is to use the money from visitors to give back to the community, a hard task for most, as I’m assuming that entry fee money is used for the museum’s maintenance. In a perfect world I’ll be able to sustain the museum’s utility use as well as being able to give to organizations that dedicate to helping those in need. Helping those in poverty, those in debt with hospital bills, or birth defects and etc. Every couple of months the destination or organization would change. My ideal location would have to be in cities that are well-populated and centered around attractions or main attractions. A couple of examples are, NYC: Times Square, Paris: Eiffel Tower, Japan: Tokyo. I think the idea is to circle around a couple of locations, keep the galleries and museums moving. This way people can have a greater urge to visit my museum; because there is a possibility they wont have the opportunity to see it again for quite some time. I’m aiming to attract anyone who is willing to make a difference no matter how small; any amount of volunteering and outreach can make a difference

My art collection would be centered on the idea of interaction and being a part of the art. Any art you feel tempted to touch in my museum, you can. I’ve always loved the idea of touching the art, of course I understand why there is restrictions in current museums but I’d love to take a different approach and see how it goes. The three art pieces are some of the pieces you might see at my exhibits. Armor you may where, a sword you may hold or a photograph of Actor in Samurai Armor. Photo children can idolize and see themselves, letting their imagination go crazy. Museum, Canvas of the World. This means that my museums paves way as the example, of the way museums should be, if only in a perfect world.

Museum Essay #3

The Museum of Music! 

A place where anyone can come and enjoy the history and culture of the different type of genres of music their are. The museum would be located in the heart of New York City where a lot of tourist come to visit and where the average New Yorker can come on a Saturday afternoon. The museum would show the different types of musical instruments. They would be displayed where the viewer can see how the instrument has evolved over the years. Through out each room a different genre of music will be displayed, with famous artist who have made that genre famous, along with some background music of the same kind. Each room would feature an up coming artist from New York in hopes that more individuals who aspire to be featured in the museum will come and visit it. Also to give the artist a chance for others to see and hear their work. The museum would feature rooms with genres like Hip Hop. The visitor would walk through the history of Hip Hop, starting with the early years featuring the famous, DJ Kool Herc, who is named to be the father of Hip Hop, to the new upcoming artist. The museum would also feature latin music genre like Salsa. The room would be lit with bright colors and wooden floors (making the visitor feel like they are standing on a salsa dance floor). The room would play salsa music and have paintings of famous Salsa artist including Hector Lavo, Celia Cruz, and Marc Anthony. The museum would also have an exhibit for the younger teen crowds as they might get bored with what their parents find interesting, a special exhibition would be opened to them for them to see their favorite artist. Once a week the museum would feature local dancers who would perform in each room. Break dancers in the hip hop room, salsa dancers in the salsa room, ballet dancers in the the classical music room, and etc. This would give young local dancers the opportunity to get discovered. Saturday nights at the museum would be reserved for karaoke, open to anyone, with almost any song available for visitors to sing along to. The museum would be transformed and visitors would feel like they were in a night lounge. Sunday afternoons would be “Movie Sundays”. An outside area right behind the museum would be open for visitors to come with along with their family and friends to lay down with blankets. A large projector would show famous musical movies, movies such as West Side Story, Annie, and Grease. Everyday outside the museum their would be a featured artist who would receive some of the donation profits the museum makes throughout the day. The artist job? To engage the tourist and people passing by the museum with their talent and getting them to stop by and visit the museum!
